Front Bumper & Skid Plate For Losi Baja Rey...
Front Bumper & Skid Plate for Losi Baja Rey

When RPM's engineers took a look at the stock front bumper and skid plate on a Losi Baja Rey, they understood that the front skid plate was too stiff, avoiding the bumper from absorbing impacts. Their solution involved more than simply a basic skid plate redesign. They moved the entire skid plate from in between the chassis plate and differential to below the aluminum chassis plate. This move solved a few problems. First, the aluminum chassis plate now has some major RPM skid security where it had none before! Next, and more importantly, it allowed the freedom to produce a flex zone on the skid plate that would enable more movement of the bumper in effect scenarios, eventually conserving you from pricey repairs.

The skid plate isn't the only location RPM sought to enhance strength and toughness. They upgraded the bumper as well-strengthening the install in between the skid plate and bumper, thus producing another flex zone that permits the bumper to compress under extreme impacts yet return back to its initial shape once the effect energy has dissipated. This capability to compress also protects the more vulnerable areas of the truck such as the front differential and chassis plate since the bumper now soaks up the effect rather of transferring that energy into the chassis. They also made the bumper thicker than stock, implying it can take more impacts over the entire width of the bumper without failing.
