The Springfield Armory XD (Xtreme Task) line of pistols are polymer framed, striker fired, semi-automatic pistols designed to fulfill the numerous needs of law enforcement agencies. The XDM series of pistols share many of the same functions that made the basic XD line excellent however adds many improvements to better deal with the end-users shooting experience. The XDM includes interchangeable backstraps to better contour the grip for each specific users preference in feel and convenience. The aggressive grip texturing helps to lock the pistol into the palm of your hand for a positive locked-in grip. The handgun also employs many security functions such as a trigger security, grip security, packed chamber sign, in addition to a cocked striker sign to ensure safe and intentional operation of this weapon. Other notable functions include an ambidextrous magazine release that does not have to be flipped/or reversed; the magazine release can be pressed from either side at any time.

The Air Venturi / Springfield Armory cooperation XDM series of Airsoft pistols accurately recreates a training variation of the genuine XDM.
