All aboard! The Tram, also known as a tramcar or tram, is among the earliest kinds of urban transportation. The UGears Tram with Bed rails model set is inspired by the very first street vehicles and funiculars and is among the most romantic designs in our portfolio – besides the fact that the cable car is dripping in retro style, it can also carry a love message to the opposite of the track!

In San Francisco, A well-known San Francisco cable cars and truck was placed on cable car rails in 1873 and works to this day! The cars and truck was built by a regional business man named Andrew Hallidie to resolve the problem of horse-drawn carriages being not able to scale a certain really steep hill called "Nob Hill." Hallidie carried out the very same engine system he used to shuttle ore from gold mines into an automobile, and the cable car proved an excellent success. Today, the cable car is a symbol of heritage and an excellent example of the old saying "If it isn't broke, don't fix it."

The UGears Tram design set doesn't need any fixing, however it does need a structure! 154 precision-cut parts are provided as part of the set to be constructed according to an accurate manual provided. The design cars and truck is propelled by an elastic band engine in "cable car mode" or can be driven by gravity in its "funicular mode" where one end of the rails is slanted up with a special lever to trigger the cars and truck to roll to the opposite side. Levers on both ends of the rail can be used to raise the tracks off of the ground, developing a raised 'bridge'.

The cable car's pantograph serves as a lever that powers the wind-up wheel of the rubber band engine. There's also a start lever, direction shifter, a brake lever, and even an emergency exit in the roofing system. And obviously, as in the majority of our designs, there's even a small storage area for stashing something special for an individual on the other end of the route!
