Broke 5 minutes into 1st battery By Jordan T on January 5, 2019 Verified Purchase I grew up with many RC cars. Traxxas, Kyosho, Losi, Team Associated, I had them all. My last car was a nitro rustler when I was 16. I ran that car for several years with very little problems. rnFast forward to today. I’m 33, I fly drones but miss my old rc cars so I bought a new Traxxas Ruster VXl 3s. I went home, read the manual, charged the battery, put it in trainer mode and took it out to an empty parking lot. After 3 minutes I put it in regular mode and 2 minutes later the transmission melted down and locked solid. Ended up needing a whole new transmission after 5 minutes of mellow runtime. At that point I looked at axle shafts, steering linkages, and suspension components, many of which were already showing significant wear. I remembered back to the old days with my nitro rustler and how I abused it as a teenager and never had issues like this. I was pretty bummed that this $400 setup was already falling apart on me after not even half a battery of runtime. I get that RC stuff breaks and I’m fine with that but this has been a disappointment compared to the years of fun I got out of the nitro version. I would like to thank Vortex Hobbies though for taking care of me and trying to make it right. Traxxas has just cheapened these cars as much as they can.Was this review helpful to you?
