Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1/2 Bird Cage Corsair

This is a Plastic 1/48 Scale Chance-Vought F4U-1/2 Corsair Airplane
from Tamiya.

The Corsair was mostly used as an offensive fighter and ground attack
aircraft. Preliminary variations had bad handling on carrier and so they
served with the Militaries off land-based airstrips. Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine
needed the timeless inverted gull wing design for acceptable prop
clearance. Early variations were called "Birdcage Corsairs" due to the heavily
framed canopy.

FEATURES:
First Flight 1940; later variations served into the 1960's.
Extremely detailed 1/48th scale plastic set for static display.
Markings consisted of for 1 Navy and 2 Marine aircraft.
Approximately 100 parts in light grey and clear with fine recessed
    panel lines.
Optional wing radome parts for radar equipped F4U-2 nightfighter.
Cockpit is a masterpiece in plastic. Highlights: seat, rudder pedals
    with foot troughs, detailed side consoles, control stick to
    linkages, perfectly detailed instrument panel/front bulkhead.
Separate flaps designed to be connected in the dropped configuration.
Wing outer panels are separate and parts are consisted of to permit the
    wings to be designed folded or extended.
Wheel wells have ribs and stringers and landing gear is fully
    detailed.
Detailed PW R-2800 engine with parts for open and closed cowl flaps.
Single engine, carrier based, single seat fighter aircraft.

MARKING
OPTIONS:
Single sheet of InvisaClear decals consists of aircraft code letters,
    serial numbers, nationwide insignia, stencils, cockpit instruments,
    and seat belts. Invisa-Clear decals by Superscale are made using a
    special procedure which guarantees that a minimum quantity of clear movie
    surrounds the coloured part of the decal. Four aircraft:
1: A/C No. 02337, "17-F-13", VF-17 (aboard USS Bunker Hill), USN.
Upper Surfaces: Two tone Dark Blue/Intermediate Blue.
Lower Surfaces: White w/Dark Blue wing panels outboard of fold
line.
2: A/C No. 37242, "20", VMF-213, USMC.
Upper Surfaces: Light Blue Grey.
Lower Surfaces: Light Grey.
3&4: A/C No. 3212, "212"; and 0246, "205", VMF(N)-532, USMC
(nightfighter).
Upper Surfaces: Light Blue Grey.
Lower Surfaces: Light Grey.
