The Spirit of St. Louis, flown by Charles Lindbergh, made the first solo non-stop transatlantic flight from Long Island, New York, to Paris, France leaving on Might 20th and arriving on Might 21st, 1927. Officially referred to as the "Ryan NYP" (for New York to Paris), the Spirit of St. Louis was a custom-made, single engine, single-seat monoplane created by Donald A. Hall of Ryan Airlines. It was called Spirit of St. Louis in honor of Lindbergh's fans from his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. To conserve style time, the NYP was loosely based upon the company's 1926 Ryan M-2 mail aircraft with the primary distinction being the 4,000-mile variety of the NYP. As a non-standard style, the government appointed it the registration number N-X-211 (X for "experimental").More than other plane, the Spirit of St. Louis recorded the creativity of the nation and caused the Golden era of flight in the United States.
