Introduction
Even if you've never flown a radio controlled (RC) aircraft in the past, the Carbon Cub S 2 is the most versatile, capable and easiest to fly scale RC aircraft yet! Based on the Carbon Cub by CubCrafters, an updated and completely modern-day version of the timeless Super Cub, and equipped with Horizon Hobby's special and ingenious SAFE technology, this scale recreation makes it possible for nearly anybody to learn to fly successfully. And the addition of telemetry-capable and Smart components including an ESC, battery and battery charger (battery and battery charger offered independently for the BNF® Standard variation), together with the alternative to add SAFE Plus® GPS-enabled technology and the Landing Assist Sensing Unit (LAS), makes learning to fly even much easier than ever before!

The HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 is the easiest to fly, most capable and versatile scale trainer RC aircraft yet! It's equipped with special SAFE® (Sensing Unit Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes so almost everybody can learn to fly successfully. Novice, Intermediate and Knowledgeable modes permit you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are prepared to try, at the flip of a switch. And you can immediately return to steady flight utilizing Panic Healing with the push of a button in any flight mode. Extra-large tires make it possible to take off and arrive on a range of surfaces including thick yard, gravel paths, dirt routes and smooth pavement, or you can install the optional floats to fly from water—which adds to its unrivaled adaptability and capabilities.
The Carbon Cub S 2 is equipped with a 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC that provides a range of real-time power system associated telemetry data including motor RPM, present, battery voltage and more to compatible Spektrum™ AirWare™ equipped transmitters, and even approximate flight battery power remaining by means of multiple LEDs on the DXS transmitter consisted of with the RTF variation. The addition of special Spektrum Smart components including a lithium polymer (LiPo) battery and battery charger make it easier to charge appropriately and securely (battery and battery charger offered independently for the BNF® Standard variation). And you have the alternative to easily update to SAFE Plus GPS-enabled technology that uses functions such as AutoLand and Virtual Fence, together with the alternative to install the Landing Assist Sensing Unit (LAS) that automatically "flares" for smoother landings, to make learning to fly—and to land securely—much easier than ever!
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) variation includes whatever required to fly in one box, and is the best choice if you're a new RC pilot. From the Spektrum DXS 2.4GHz transmitter you can use with other Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) and BNF Standard aircraft after you learn to fly the Carbon Cub S 2, to the 3S 2200mAh Smart LiPo battery that delivers long flight times and the practical S120 USB-C Smart battery charger that can be utilized with a range of USB power sources, there's absolutely nothing additional you need to buy or provide! A BNF Standard variation is also readily available for experienced pilots who wish to use their preferred Spektrum transmitter together with batteries and chargers they may already own. And for both versions, the powerful and efficient brushless power system including a telemetry-capable ESC, plus the flight controller, receiver and servos, are all factory-installed in the resilient EPO airframe that puts together quickly and easily without the need for glue or special tools.

Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make entering into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible much easier than ever. They come out of package with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver set up so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, end up any final assembly, and fly!

The Carbon Cub S 2 is equipped with an ESC that can provide a range of real-time power system associated telemetry data including motor RPM, present, battery voltage and more to compatible Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, iX12, iX20 and others) while you fly.
 







Durable Design
Construction with sophisticated EPO product delivers a lightweight yet resilient airframe that is difficult enough to handle daily flying penalty without getting bent out of shape. And in the regrettable event you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a complete line of replacement parts is easily offered.
 



Easy Assembly
The Carbon Cub S 2 gets here mainly factory-assembled with the power system, servos plus the flight controller and receiver set up. All you need to do is end up some fast and simple final assembly, without making use of glue or special tools, and you'll be prepared to fly in less time than it requires to charge a battery!
 







Versatile Equipment Options
Thick yard, gravel paths, dirt routes; you can fly from these and numerous other surfaces that are difficult for most designs of this size to handle. The robust landing gear is equipped with oversized tires that absorb the bumps of rough surfaces and provide excellent prop clearance. The optional float set (offered independently) takes just a couple of minutes to install and all the needed hardware is consisted of with the aircraft and float set so you can fly from lakes and ponds.
 



Optional Flaps
Functional flaps are an option for improved slow speed handling and even much shorter takeoffs and landings. This function needs a 7+ channel computer transmitter plus a flap servo and a servo extension (offered independently).
 





 



Optional Landing Assist Sensing Unit for Smoother Landings
The Spektrum Landing Assist Sensing Unit (LAS) is simple to install and provides automated "flare" control to help unskilled pilots "grease" landings by minimizing or totally eliminating bouncing (works over many/most surfaces and provides optimal performance when flying over/landing in yard).

 






 

Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE® Innovation
If this is your first RC aircraft, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensing Unit Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashing while also providing multiple flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills progress:

Novice Mode

In this flight mode, the aircraft has pitch and bank angle limits to prevent over-control that can result in a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are launched, the aircraft automatically goes back to level flight by itself enabling you to relax and take pleasure in just 'steering' the aircraft through the sky. This flight mode also makes it much easier to take off and land.


 

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode allows more liberty in pitch and bank, but still prevents substantial over-control and the aircraft does not return to level flight by itself. This allows you to make tighter turns and to climb up and come down much faster as your skills advance. Likewise, Novice Mode automatically activates and returns the aircraft to level flight when it descends below roughly 30 feet above ground level and the control sticks are launched.


 

Knowledgeable Mode

In Knowledgeable Mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Healing can be triggered by switching to Novice Mode and releasing the control sticks.


 

 

Panic Healing

If you lose control of the aircraft in the Intermediate or Knowledgeable flight modes, just switch to Novice Mode and release the control sticks. SAFE technology will automatically return the aircraft to level flight.



 


 

Easily Upgrade to SAFE® Plus GPS-Enabled Innovation
With fast and simple setup of the optional Spektrum GPS Module you can add next-level self-governing assistance functions that make it even much easier to learn to fly. With SAFE Plus included you get:

AutoLand

Triggered by just holding down a button, the sophisticated AutoLand function puts the aircraft on a supported approach to arrive on its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional assistance to prevent obstacles or to adjust the approach while letting the system do the rest to perform a safe landing. As your skills progress and you get more self-confidence you can take control of more of the control inputs, eventually learning to land without any help from the automatic system at all.


 

Holding Pattern

This very handy SAFE Plus-exclusive function essentially allows you to "pause" the flight by putting the aircraft into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When triggered with the fast press of a button, the aircraft will automatically return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle up until the command is cancelled with another fast press of the button. It's a terrific way to securely hand the controls off to a buddy or to gain back visual contact if you ever lose sight of the design.


 

Virtual Fence

It's simple to accidentally let an RC aircraft fly too far, but with Virtual Fence, fret no more. It produces an undetectable border the aircraft will not fly past. When the aircraft reaches this border, it will automatically turn around and fly back toward the GPS initialization point. Then it will "wag" the wings to let you know when you have control again.
