SAFE technology

Find Out to Fly Successfully with SAFE® Technology
If this is your first RC plane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashing while also using numerous flight modes to deliver more control and abilities as your skills development:

Newbie Mode

In this flight mode, the plane has pitch and bank angle limits to avoid over-control that can lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released, the plane instantly goes back to level flight on its own allowing you to unwind and take pleasure in simply 'steering' the plane through the sky. This flight mode also makes it easier to take off and land.

Beginner Mode

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode allows more freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents substantial over-control and the plane does not return to level flight on its own. This allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend quicker as your skills advance. Also, Newbie Mode instantly activates and returns the plane to level flight when it descends below around 30 feet above ground level and the control sticks are released.

Intermediate Mode

Skilled Mode

In Skilled Mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and carry out aerobatic maneuvers consisting of loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Healing can be triggered by changing to Newbie Mode and releasing the control sticks.

Experienced Mode

Panic Healing

If you lose control of the plane in the Intermediate or Skilled flight modes, simply change to Newbie Mode and launch the control sticks. SAFE technology will instantly return the plane to level flight.

Panic Recovery

SAFE technology

Quickly Update to SAFE® Plus GPS-Enabled Technology
With quick and simple setup of the optional Spektrum GPS Module you can add next-level self-governing guidance functions that make it even easier to learn to fly. With SAFE Plus included you get:

AutoLand

Triggered by simply holding down a button, the innovative AutoLand function puts the plane on a stabilized approach to arrive at its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even supply some directional guidance to prevent obstacles or to change the approach while letting the system do the rest to perform a safe landing. As your skills development and you gain more self-confidence you can take control of more of the control inputs, ultimately learning to land with no assistance from the automatic system at all.

AutoLand

Holding Pattern

This extremely valuable SAFE Plus-exclusive feature basically allows you to "stop briefly" the flight by putting the plane into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When triggered with the quick press of a button, the plane will instantly return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle until the command is cancelled with another quick press of the button. It's an excellent method to securely hand the controls off to a friend or to restore visual contact if you ever forget the design.

Holding Pattern

Virtual Fence

It's simple to mistakenly let an RC plane fly too far away, but with Virtual Fence, fret no more. It creates an invisible border the plane won't fly past. When the plane reaches this border, it will instantly turn around and fly back toward the GPS initialization point. Then it will "wag" the wings to let you understand when you have control once again.
