Based upon the Carbon Cub by CubCrafters, an updated and thoroughly contemporary iteration of the traditional Super Cub, and geared up with Horizon Hobby's special and innovative SAFE technology, this scale recreation makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully. The HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 is the simplest to fly, the majority of capable and versatile scale trainer RC airplane yet! It's geared up with special SAFE® (Sensing Unit Helped Flight Envelope) technology that assists to avoid overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes so almost everyone can learn to fly successfully. Novice, Intermediate and Knowledgeable modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you require, or are all set to attempt, at the flip of a switch. And you can quickly go back to stable flight using Panic Recovery with the push of a button in any flight mode. Large tires make it possible to remove and land on a variety of surface areas including thick yard, gravel paths, dirt trails and smooth pavement, or you can install the optional floats to fly from water—which adds to its unequaled adaptability and capabilities.
The Carbon Cub S 2 is geared up with a 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC that offers a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more to suitable Spektrum™ AirWare™ equipped transmitters, and even approximate flight battery power remaining through several LEDs on the DXS transmitter included with the RTF variation. The addition of special Spektrum Smart components including a lithium polymer (LiPo) battery and battery charger make it easier to charge correctly and safely (battery and battery charger sold separately for the BNF® Standard variation). And you have the choice to quickly update to SAFE Plus GPS-enabled technology that offers functions such as AutoLand and Virtual Fence, along with the choice to install the Landing Assist Sensing Unit (LAS) that automatically "flares" for smoother landings, to make learning to fly—and to land safely—simpler than ever!
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) variation consists of whatever required to fly in one box, and is the ideal choice if you're a brand-new RC pilot. From the Spektrum DXS 2.4GHz transmitter you can use with other Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) and BNF Standard airplane after you learn to fly the Carbon Cub S 2, to the THREE 2200mAh Smart LiPo battery that provides long flight times and the practical S120 USB-C Smart battery charger that can be utilized with a variety of USB power sources, there's absolutely nothing additional you require to purchase or provide! A BNF Standard variation is also offered for knowledgeable pilots who wish to use their preferred Spektrum transmitter along with batteries and battery chargers they may already own. And for both variations, the effective and efficient brushless power system including a telemetry-capable ESC, plus the flight controller, receiver and servos, are all factory-installed in the resilient EPO airframe that puts together quickly and quickly without the requirement for glue or special tools.

Versatile Equipment Options
Thick yard, gravel paths, dirt trails; you can fly from these and numerous other surface areas that are difficult for the majority of designs of this size to manage. The robust landing equipment is geared up with oversized tires that take in the bumps of rough surface areas and provide exceptional prop clearance. The optional float set (sold separately) takes just a couple of minutes to install and all the essential hardware is included with the airplane and float set so you can fly from lakes and ponds.
 



Optional Flaps

If this is your very first RC airplane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensing Unit Helped Flight Envelope) technology avoids over-control and crashing while also providing several flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills development:

Novice Mode

In this flight mode, the airplane has pitch and bank angle limits to avoid over-control that can lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are launched, the airplane automatically goes back to level flight by itself enabling you to relax and take pleasure in just 'steering' the airplane through the sky. This flight mode also makes it simpler to remove and land.


 

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode allows more freedom in pitch and bank, but still avoids significant over-control and the airplane does not go back to level flight by itself. This allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance. Likewise, Novice Mode automatically activates and returns the airplane to level flight when it descends below roughly 30 feet above ground level and the control sticks are launched.


 

Knowledgeable Mode

In Knowledgeable Mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery can be triggered by switching to Novice Mode and launching the control sticks.


 

 

Panic Recovery

If you lose control of the airplane in the Intermediate or Knowledgeable flight modes, simply change to Novice Mode and launch the control sticks. SAFE technology will automatically return the airplane to level flight.



 


 

Quickly Upgrade to SAFE® Plus GPS-Enabled Innovation
With quick and simple setup of the optional Spektrum GPS Module you can include next-level self-governing guidance functions that make it even simpler to learn to fly. With SAFE Plus added you get:

AutoLand

Triggered by simply holding down a button, the sophisticated AutoLand function puts the airplane on a stabilized method to land on its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional guidance to prevent barriers or to change the method while letting the system do the rest to execute a safe landing. As your skills development and you acquire more self-confidence you can take control of more of the control inputs, ultimately learning to land with no assistance from the automated system at all.


 

Holding Pattern

This really useful SAFE Plus-exclusive feature basically allows you to "pause" the flight by putting the airplane into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When triggered with the quick press of a button, the airplane will automatically go back to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle up until the command is cancelled with another quick press of the button. It's an excellent way to safely hand the controls off to a good friend or to gain back visual contact if you ever forget the model.


 

Virtual Fence

It's simple to accidentally let an RC airplane fly too far, but with Virtual Fence, worry no more. It produces an undetectable limit the airplane will not fly past. When the airplane reaches this limit, it will automatically reverse and fly back toward the GPS initialization point. Then it will "wag" the wings to let you know when you have control again.
