Learn to Fly Effectively with SAFE® Technology
If this is your first RC aircraft, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology avoids over-control and crashing while also providing several flight modes to deliver more control and abilities as your skills development:

Beginner Mode

In this flight mode, the aircraft has pitch and bank angle limitations to avoid over-control that can lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are launched, the aircraft automatically goes back to level flight by itself allowing you to relax and delight in simply 'guiding' the aircraft through the sky. This flight mode also makes it easier to remove and land.


 

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode enables more freedom in pitch and bank, however still avoids substantial over-control and the aircraft does not go back to level flight by itself. This enables you to make tighter turns and to climb and come down faster as your skills advance. Likewise, Beginner Mode automatically triggers and returns the aircraft to level flight when it descends below approximately 30 feet above ground level and the control sticks are launched.


 

Knowledgeable Mode

In Knowledgeable Mode there are no pitch or bank angle limitations so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery can be triggered by changing to Beginner Mode and releasing the control sticks.


 

 

Panic Recovery

If you lose control of the aircraft in the Intermediate or Knowledgeable flight modes, just switch to Beginner Mode and launch the control sticks. SAFE technology will automatically return the aircraft to level flight.



 


 

Quickly Update to SAFE® Plus GPS-Enabled Technology
With fast and easy setup of the optional Spektrum GPS Module you can add next-level autonomous guidance functions that make it even easier to discover to fly. With SAFE Plus added you get:

AutoLand

Activated by just holding down a button, the advanced AutoLand function puts the aircraft on a supported technique to arrive on its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional guidance to prevent obstacles or to change the technique while letting the system do the rest to carry out a safe landing. As your skills development and you acquire more confidence you can take over more of the control inputs, ultimately learning to land without any help from the automated system at all.


 

Holding Pattern

When triggered with the fast press of a button, the aircraft will automatically go back to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle up until the command is cancelled with another fast press of the button. It's a great method to securely hand the controls off to a buddy or to gain back visual contact if you ever forget the design.


 

Virtual Fence

It's easy to accidentally let an RC aircraft fly too far away, however with Virtual Fence, fret no more. It creates an undetectable border the aircraft won't fly past. When the aircraft reaches this border, it will automatically reverse and fly back toward the GPS initialization point. Then it will "wag" the wings to let you understand when you have control once again.
