Whether you’ve never flown RC prior to or you got your first taste of flying with a multirotor drone, the advanced Carbon Cub S+ is the most flexible, capable and simplest to fly RC aircraft yet. Based upon the Carbon Cub by Cub Crafters, an updated and completely modern version of the traditional Super Cub, and geared up with Horizon Hobby's special and innovative SAFE® Plus GPS-enabled drone innovation, this scale recreation makes it simpler to discover how to fly in less time than ever before. Advanced functions consisting of AutoLand, Holding Pattern and Virtual Fence make it easy for nearly anyone to fly effectively from their very first flight, while additional functions consisting of extra-large tundra tires and optional flaps and floats offer the capability and versatility to fly from nearly any surface, anywhere.

SAFE Plus functions and functions include:

When activated after holding down a button, the innovative AutoLand function puts the Carbon Cub S+ on a supported method to autonomously land near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional guidance to prevent barriers or to change the method while letting the system do the rest to carry out a safe landing. As your skills development and you acquire more confidence you can take control of more of the control inputs, ultimately discovering how to land with no assistance from the automated system at all.

Holding Pattern
This useful SAFE Plus special function lets you basically "pause" a flight by putting the aircraft into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When activated after the fast press of a button, the aircraft will automatically return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle up until the command is cancelled. It's an excellent way to securely hand the controls to a good friend or to regain visual contact if you ever lose sight of the model.

Virtual Fence
It's easy to unintentionally let an RC aircraft fly too far, but with Virtual Fence concern no more because it creates an unnoticeable border the aircraft won't fly past. When the aircraft reaches this border it will automatically reverse and fly back towards the GPS initialization point, then it will wag the wings to let you understand when you have control again.

Panic Recovery
If you ever lose control of the aircraft in the more advanced control modes merely switch to Beginner Mode and launch the control sticks. SAFE® Plus innovation will automatically return the aircraft to level flight.

Beginner Mode
Pitch and bank angle limits prevent over-control that can lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are launched the aircraft go back to level flight by itself. Best of all departures are as easy as offering full throttle and letting the aircraft fly off the ground or by offering it a quick hand launch.

Intermediate Mode
More flexibility in pitch and bank, but still prevents over-control and does not return to level flight by itself. This mode permits you to make tighter turns and to climb up and come down faster as your skills advance. Beginner mode automatically activates and returns the aircraft to level flight when the aircraft descends listed below roughly 30 feet above ground level and the sticks are released.

Experienced Mode
No pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers consisting of loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery Mode can be activated by switching to Beginner Mode and releasing the sticks.

Harder to fly than some intermediate planes
By Gregory T on April 15, 2018   Verified Purchase

Pretty finicky for a trainer. GPS system, if not programmed right can cause some pretty scary situations where you don't have total control. Once working it's pretty nice though. Problems with the plane itself, it's a little under powered, drops a ton of speed on turns, and I really wish it came with working flaps. Although, it's not hard to get them working.
