California Mission Santa Cruz...
This is the Santa Cruz
Objectives of California Educational Project.
Parental Guidance is Recommended.

Santa Cruz became the 12th objective when founded on August 28, 1791, by
Father Fermin de Lasuen. Despite its appealing area, the objective was
predestined not to reach its potential.
The neighboring Branciforte pueblo was a neighborhood of ex-convicts and thieves.
Its affect on straying Santa Cruz novices led disappointed padres to
leave the objective in 1818. It was looted and harmed, and by 1831 just 300
Indians remained.
A series of earthquakes in 1857 ruined the objective. In 1889 a
Gothic-style church named Holy Cross was improved the website. Nothing remains of
the original objective other than a row of buildings that housed Indian households. In
Gladys Sullivan Doyle developed a half-scale replica of the objective church
near the original website, which works as an active parish.
