California Mission San Juan Bautista...
This is the San Juan Bautista
Missions of California Educational Project.
Parental Guidance is Recommended.

The 15th mission, San Juan Bautista was founded on June 24, 1797. It
consists of the largest mission church - and the just one with 3 aisles.
The area's Native Americans were friendly. Objective population quickly grew to
over 1,000. Father Estevan Tapis created a male choir, taken pleasure in by the local
population and visitors. Father Felipe del Arroyo might preach in seven Native
American dialects and created the very first dictionary-like file of their
languages.
Mission San Juan Bautista has served mass daily since 1797. Much of the
initial interior, painted by a Boston sailor called Thomas Doak, endures
today. The mission was restored in 1884 and once again in 1949, funded by the
Hearst Foundation.
