Overview
The Opterra™ 2m flying wing is the collaborative effort of George Hicks and Mike McConville – two of design aviation's premier aircraft designers. Together, they have created some of the very best flying RC aircrafts in the world. This one is no exception. Its light-weight construction, long wingspan and effective aerodynamics provide it a large range of capabilities that includes everything from sport aerobatics to skyrocketing. It even provides you the ability to put yourself in the pilot's seat with FPV gear while utilizing a GoPro Hero 3, Hero 4 or comparable class video camera to tape-record HD video at the exact same time.* This Bind-N-Fly® version includes the included benefit of a Spektrum™ AS3X® receiver that features optional SAFE® Select technology.

Advanced Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction
Central to the aircraft's remarkable capabilities are the sophisticated aerodynamics that shaped its style. In addition to its effective airfoil, winglets and fins on the fuselage help the design track real in all type of air. Vortex generators near the leading edge of the top of the wing, and just ahead of the elevons on the bottom of the wing, boost slow speed stability and control. The airframe itself is constructed of carbon-reinforced, hollow-core Z-Foam™ material that keeps weight to a minimum while maintaining strength and rigidness.
 



Easy to Assemble and Transport
One of the design's most outstanding features is how easy it makes it for you to take it with you anywhere. Its plug-in wing panels and winglets are secured with thumbscrews so assembly or disassembly can be done in a matter of minutes. High-Output Brushless Power System with Folding Prop
The high-output power system offers ample power for bring video camera payloads or performing sport aerobatics. When you want to power off and grab a thermal, the folding prop decreases drag so you can slide longer.
 



Up to 3 Camera Mounting Stations Available
In addition to a sleek, low-drag nose for skyrocketing and flying aerobatics, the Opterra wing includes an optional video camera nose with up to two forward-facing stations for FPV or HD electronic cameras. There is also a downward-looking video camera bay in the tummy created for GoPro Hero 3, Hero 4 and comparable HD electronic cameras.

It also has an external mounting station for low-profile Mobius or Legend HD electronic cameras. This enables pilots to mount an HD video camera on top of the nose and an FPV video camera in the nose.

AS3X® Receiver with Optional-Use SAFE® Select Innovation
The design's AS3X (Synthetic Stabilization – 3-aXis) receiver works behind the scenes to ravel the results of wind and turbulence. The outcome is a sense of stability and accuracy that makes you seem like you're flying a skillfully tuned aircraft.

This receiver also features optional SAFE® Select technology that you can switch on and off with the flip of a transmitter switch. With SAFE Select technology triggered, you get:

Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
These keep the aircraft from rolling or pitching upside down. They also avoid extreme climb or dive angles throughout launch and landing.

Automatic Self-Leveling
Immediately returns the wings to level when the sticks are released.

If you do not want to allow the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will work like a standard AS3X receiver.During launch, you can turn SAFE Select technology on to keep the wing level and in the ideal climb attitude until you get both hands back on the controls. If you are flying FPV with a headset, triggering SAFE Select technology will enable you to unwind and enjoy the view without stressing over attempting to stay level or getting disoriented and losing control.
