The Opterra™ 2m flying wing is the collective effort of George Hicks and Mike McConville – 2 of model air travel's premier aircraft designers. Advanced Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction
Central to the aircraft's incredible abilities are the innovative aerodynamics that shaped its style. In addition to its effective airfoil, winglets and fins on the fuselage assist the model track true in all type of air. Vortex generators near the leading edge of the top of the wing, and just ahead of the elevons on the bottom of the wing, improve slow speed stability and control. The airframe itself is constructed of carbon-reinforced, hollow-core Z-Foam™ product that keeps weight to a minimum while preserving strength and rigidness.
 



Easy to Assemble and Transport
Among the model's most excellent features is how simple it makes it for you to take it with you anywhere. Its plug-in wing panels and winglets are secured with thumbscrews so assembly or disassembly can be performed in a matter of minutes. High-Output Brushless Power System with Folding Prop
The high-output power system offers more than enough power for carrying camera payloads or performing sport aerobatics. When you want to power off and get a thermal, the folding prop minimizes drag so you can glide longer.
 



Up to 3 Camera Mounting Stations Available
In addition to a streamlined, low-drag nose for soaring and flying aerobatics, the Opterra wing consists of an optional camera nose with approximately 2 forward-facing stations for FPV or HD electronic cameras. There is also a downward-looking camera bay in the stubborn belly designed for GoPro Hero 3, Hero 4 and similar HD electronic cameras.

It also has an external mounting station for low-profile Mobius or Legend HD electronic cameras. This enables pilots to mount an HD camera on top of the nose and an FPV camera in the nose.

AS3X® Receiver with Optional-Use SAFE® Select Innovation
The model's AS3X (Synthetic Stabilization – 3-aXis) receiver works behind the scenes to ravel the effects of wind and turbulence. The outcome is a sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a skillfully tuned aircraft.

This receiver also features optional SAFE® Select technology that you can switch on and off with the flip of a transmitter switch. With SAFE Select technology triggered, you get:

Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
These keep the aircraft from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles during launch and landing.

Automatic Self-Leveling
Quickly returns the wings to level when the sticks are released.

If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver typically and it will operate like a standard AS3X receiver.During launch, you can turn SAFE Select technology on to keep the wing level and in the best climb attitude until you get both restore on the controls. If you are flying FPV with a headset, triggering SAFE Select technology will enable you to unwind and take pleasure in the view without stressing over trying to stay level or getting disoriented and losing control.
