Overview
The Opterra™ 2m flying wing is the collaborative effort of George Hicks and Mike McConville – two of model air travel's premier airplane designers. Together, they have developed a few of the best flying RC planes worldwide. This one is no exception. Its light-weight building and construction, long wingspan and efficient aerodynamics offer it a wide variety of abilities that includes whatever from sport aerobatics to skyrocketing. It even provides you the ability to put yourself in the pilot's seat with FPV equipment while utilizing a GoPro Hero 3, Hero 4 or similar class video camera to record HD video at the same time.* This Bind-N-Fly® version features the added benefit of a Spektrum™ AS3X® receiver that features optional SAFE® Select technology.

Advanced Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction
Central to the airplane's incredible abilities are the innovative aerodynamics that formed its style. In addition to its efficient airfoil, winglets and fins on the fuselage help the model track real in all sort of air. Vortex generators near the leading edge of the top of the wing, and simply ahead of the elevons on the bottom of the wing, boost sluggish speed stability and control. The airframe itself is built of carbon-reinforced, hollow-core Z-Foam™ product that keeps weight to a minimum while keeping strength and rigidness.
 



Easy to Assemble and Transport
One of the model's most remarkable features is how simple it makes it for you to take it with you anywhere. Its plug-in wing panels and winglets are secured with thumbscrews so assembly or disassembly can be carried out in a matter of minutes. And the box it is available in is designed to operate as a bring case complete with a handle.
 







High-Output Brushless Power System with Folding Prop
The high-output power system supplies ample power for carrying video camera payloads or performing sport aerobatics. When you want to power off and get a thermal, the folding prop lowers drag so you can glide longer.
 



Up to 3 Camera Mounting Stations Available
In addition to a smooth, low-drag nose for skyrocketing and flying aerobatics, the Opterra wing includes an optional video camera nose with as much as two forward-facing stations for FPV or HD video cameras. There is also a downward-looking video camera bay in the belly designed for GoPro Hero 3, Hero 4 and similar HD video cameras.

It also has an external mounting station for low-profile Mobius or Legend HD video cameras. This permits pilots to mount an HD video camera on top of the nose and an FPV video camera in the nose.

AS3X® Receiver with Optional-Use SAFE® Select Technology
The model's AS3X (Synthetic Stabilization – 3-aXis) receiver works behind the scenes to ravel the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a skillfully tuned aircraft.

This receiver also features optional SAFE® Select innovation that you can switch on and off with the flip of a transmitter switch. With SAFE Select innovation triggered, you get:

Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
These keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent extreme climb or dive angles throughout launch and landing.

Automatic Self-Leveling
Instantly returns the wings to level when the sticks are released.

If you don't want to allow the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally and it will operate like a basic AS3X receiver.During launch, you can turn SAFE Select innovation on to keep the wing level and in the ideal climb attitude till you get both restore on the controls. If you are flying FPV with a headset, activating SAFE Select innovation will allow you to relax and enjoy the view without stressing over trying to stay level or getting disoriented and losing control.
