Based on one of the absolute best platforms ever created for learning to fly radio managed (RC) planes, its plus size and 1.5 meter (59.0 inch) wingspan offers much better presence and the capability to manage more wind while learning to fly at an RC club flying field. Its naturally stable design plus SAFE® (Sensing Unit Assisted Flight Envelope) technology featuring Novice, Intermediate and Skilled flight modes makes it easy to fly successfully, especially with the aid of a trainer. Optional Landing Assist Sensor for Smoother Landings
The brand new Spektrum Landing Assist Sensing Unit (LAS) is easy to install and provides automated "flare" control to help inexperienced pilots "grease" landings by reducing or completely getting rid of bouncing (works finest when flying over/landing in yard).

Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE® Innovation
If this is your first RC plane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensing Unit Assisted Flight Envelope) technology avoids over-control and crashing while also providing several flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills progress:

Novice Mode

In this flight mode, the plane has pitch and bank angle limitations to avoid over-control that can result in a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released, the plane automatically goes back to level flight on its own allowing you to relax and delight in just 'steering' the plane through the sky. This flight mode also makes it simpler to remove and land.


 

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode permits more freedom in pitch and bank, however still avoids substantial over-control and the plane does not go back to level flight on its own. This permits you to make tighter turns and to climb up and descend much faster as your skills advance. Likewise, Novice Mode automatically activates and returns the plane to level flight when it descends below roughly 30 feet above ground level and the control sticks are released.


 

Skilled Mode

AutoLand

Triggered by just holding down a button, the innovative AutoLand function puts the plane on a supported approach to arrive at its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even supply some directional assistance to avoid challenges or to adjust the approach while letting the system do the rest to execute a safe landing. As your skills progress and you acquire more confidence you can take over more of the control inputs, ultimately learning to land with no assistance from the automatic system at all.


 

Holding Pattern

This really handy SAFE Plus-exclusive feature essentially permits you to "stop briefly" the flight by putting the plane into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When triggered with the quick press of a button, the plane will automatically go back to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle up until the command is cancelled with another quick press of the button. Virtual Fence
