More even engagement of all wheels. Probably because the drive shaft doesn't twist and undtwist under load. The "half shafts"/dog bones/axle shafts are a must if you use a brushless motor. The stock plastic ones fail with the higher torque. The wheel hubs/shaft/drive cups are seem to hold up better then the plastic ones. With the plastic ones the threaded post bent. On all 4 wheels. Maybe because the plastic ones flex and don't support as well. The aluminum ones are still straight. There is more noise meshing with the half shafts. Metal on metal. Non issue in my mind. I did lube the cup sockets with graphite and redo every 3-5 runs. I skipped the aluminum gear. It's supposed to be hardened aircraft aluminum, which would probably wear the brass motor gear out faster. Ideally you want both the same hardness. Maybe with a steel gear. I used a new nylon gear instead, since they are "self lubricating" to a degree. A little bearing grease on the teeth. Then I carefully and thoroughly sealed ALL joints into the drive gear void with RTV silicon sealant. Grit getting imbedded between the nylon teeth kills the brass drive gear in short order. rnrn40 or so full runs since upgrading and no issues.
