It's lines sum up that era completely, it's no-nonsense technique to 4x4 innovation and its rugged construction made it a company favourite of Off Road enthusiasts and laid the path for the designs that followed it. A Mitsubishi Pajero, finished the 1984 Paris-Dakar as the 3rd ranked winner covering more than 11,000 km and started the Pajero's Dakar Rally legacy.Mitsubishi contended mainly in the Modified Production Class (T2) classification, and contrary to common belief, T2 lorries are practically identical to those sold to the general public. T2 class lorries should be production designs and modifications follow a highly managed and safety-oriented preparation. Between 1984 and 2007 Mitsubishi dominated the Dakar, with numerous very first, second and 3rd location podium finishes. For many years Mitsubishi have earned the title of 'A lot of Dakar Rally Wins by A Manufacturer' from Guinness.
