The UV-82 series has upped the bar on economical ham radio technology! Compared to previous BaoFeng products (UV-5R, GT-3, and the v2+ Series) the UV-82 comes with a much louder speaker (1 watt), a much more strong case with bigger buttons, and a new chipset and PCB board that surpasses the variety, accuracy, and output of the previous BaoFeng chipsets. It is not just a remake however a new radio from the ground up. It surpasses the the 2nd Gen UV-5R chipset (used in the UV-5Rs, GT-3 BF-F8+, and v2+ series).

The UV-82HP is the second generation of the traditional UV-82 Series. Some new features found in the UV-82HP are the three selectable power levels (Low - 1 watt, Medium - 5 watt, High- 7 watt) allowing for a high-output of seven watts.

The UV-82 Series feature a double push-to-talk button. The double PTT is a big leap forward in the HT technology. It enables you to send on 2 frequencies by the usage of the rocker PTT switch. By pressing up you can send on "Frequency A" and by lowering you can send on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can likewise be used as a scanner of channels, frequencies, CTCSS and DTS tones.

On the BaoFeng UV-82C you have the ability to synchronize the PTT button to make it possible for single Push-to-Talk communications.
