The UV-82 series has upped the bar on cost effective ham radio innovation! Compared to previous BaoFeng products (UV-5R, GT-3, and the v2+ Series) the UV-82 comes with a much louder speaker (1 watt), a a lot more strong case with bigger buttons, and a new chipset and PCB board that outshines the variety, accuracy, and output of the previous BaoFeng chipsets. It is not just a remake but a new radio from the ground up. It outshines the the second Gen UV-5R chipset (utilized in the UV-5Rs, GT-3 BF-F8+, and v2+ series).

The UV-82HP is the second generation of the classic UV-82 Series. Some new functions found in the UV-82HP are the three selectable power levels (Low - 1 watt, Medium - 5 watt, High- 7 watt) enabling a high-output of seven watts.

The UV-82 Series come with a double push-to-talk button. The double PTT is a big leap forward in the HT innovation. It allows you to transfer on 2 frequencies by the usage of the rocker PTT switch. By pressing up you can transfer on "Frequency A" and by pushing down you can transfer on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can also be utilized as a scanner of channels, frequencies, CTCSS and DTS tones.

On the BaoFeng UV-82C you are able to synchronize the PTT button to make it possible for single Push-to-Talk communications.
