The UV-82 series has upped the bar on inexpensive ham radio innovation! Compared to previous BaoFeng items (UV-5R, GT-3, and the v2+ Series) the UV-82 features a much louder speaker (1 watt), a far more strong case with larger buttons, and a new chipset and PCB board that surpasses the variety, precision, and output of the previous BaoFeng chipsets. It is not just a remake but a new radio from the ground up. It surpasses the the 2nd Gen UV-5R chipset (utilized in the UV-5Rs, GT-3 BF-F8+, and v2+ series).

The UV-82HP is the second generation of the classic UV-82 Series. Some new features found in the UV-82HP are the 3 selectable power levels (Low - 1 watt, Medium - 5 watt, High- 7 watt) allowing for a high-output of seven watts.

The UV-82 Series feature a double push-to-talk button. The double PTT is a huge leap forward in the HT innovation. It enables you to transmit on 2 frequencies by the usage of the rocker PTT switch. By pushing up you can transmit on "Frequency A" and by pushing down you can transmit on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can also be utilized as a scanner of channels, frequencies, CTCSS and DTS tones.

On the BaoFeng UV-82C you are able to synchronize the PTT button to make it possible for single Push-to-Talk communications.
